Talking as a family when you are eating together at home or in a restaurant, when you are riding in the car, or when you are just killing time together is extremely valuable. Nothing is as important as good relationships in the family. The lack of good relationships in the family opens the door to alcohol and drug abuse, delinquency, and other angry and rebellious behavior.

Fun talking is the best way to build those loving relationships. It helps family members love, accept and appreciate one another.

However, that talking must be dialogue, not discussion. Everyone has to feel relaxed and safe.

To help your family have enjoyable conversations, I have developed The Great Family Conversations Tool Kit. It comes with six games, a fun ten-sided die and an instruction booklet. To examine this family resource to strengthen your family, click on the Tool Kit title below.

NOTE: The following article is supposed to be humorous so we can look at ourselves and have fun. We are all of us a bit off the mark. We can cry about it or have fun and laugh at ourselves. Laughing at ourselves and not taking ourselves too seriouosly allows us to view ourselves just seriously enough to change, but not so seriously as to inhibit our improvement by condemnation or defensiveness.
