Family
Survival Audio CD
For
when you are traveling too far, waiting in line too long, and killing too much
time.
A
small portion follows of a long CD that you listen to in the car on tiring and
tedious trips in order to have fun rather than restlessness. |
Track 6:
As a family design a treehouse. Get everybody in the act. You can ask everyone to mention one thing that they want in the treehouse or one thing about its construction.
Pause the CD now and proceed. Then turn the CD back on for another thing to do on this track, Track 6.
Now, tell each other, one at a time, your favorite table games. Try to listen to each other so that you will remember. And, this time, when you ask, "Why?" and "What do you mean?", you will probably get to know something very important about most of the family members. Pause the CD and dialogue with one another about what are the favorite table games of each family member.
Track 28:
As a family, decide on some things to celebrate that you do not already celebrate. Talk also about how you would celebrate.
Pause the CD and plan a few celebrations. Then turn the CD back on for something else to do on this track, Track 28.
Dictate a letter to a relative like a grandmother, grandpa, aunt or uncle. Someone write it down so you can send it later.
Go ahead. Pause the CD and think of news and nice things to say. Give the person at least one compliment.
Track 29:
Play the game of Three-Letter-Word Things. Someone starts and says a three-letter-word and spells it. Then, starting with the next person going clockwise, a thing that is spelled starting with the first letter of the three-letter-word is said. The turn passes and the next person has to name something that starts with the second letter. The turn passes and the next person has to name something that starts with the third letter of the word. The turn passes and the next person has to name something not yet named beginning again with the first letter of the word. And, so on until someone is stuck.
Here's an example: The word is bag and spelled b–a–g. The player clockwise would have to name something beginning with the letter "b". So, it might go like this, bottle – apple – goat – bug – alien – gutter – book and so on. However, if anyone says the initial word (in our example, the word "bag") or a word that has already been said, on this word "bag" or any previous word, that person is out of the game for that word. Note that the person who gave the word in the first place is in the rotation and has to name a thing also when it comes to his or her turn. The person who said "bag" would just be the last person in the circle going clockwise.
Okay, pause the CD and play this a number of times.
