If you use only a few of the many, many selections on the grids, it will still be very valuable. Out of those conversations you will build some solid skills and an expectation that your kids will think and act responsibly. Therefore, no matter how many of the selections you do not use, those that you do will become very valuable and certainly worth the small cost of the set of grids.
You do not need much time to do these grids. Yes, there are 800 items for dialogue. But, there is also a lot of time in the next few years. Parents and their kids talking about serious things is not a project that must be completed by next month. In fact, even if you could, I don't suggest it. Using the grids over months makes talking a normal, regular parenting activity.
Parents think that giving lectures is the best way to teach. This is only true when children are very small. As soon as they can begin thinking for themselves, it is helpful to engage them in dialogue. Dialogue is a gentle, friendly way to get your kids and teens thinking about important things. The second and fourth game grids get your children and teens thinking and talking about important issues. The third and fifth game grids get them thinking about tasks and chores. The sixth grid gets kids, and especially teens, thinking about success and survival skills.
The idea of these grids is to let your child or teen express his or her opinion first, with total safety to answer honestly. Many parents want to hear the "right" answer and get upset if an answer given is not what they consider the "right" answer. However, you really do want the honest answer. You want to know what your child really thinks. So, try not to correct their answers, just follow their answers with a lot of "Why?" questions. Find out why they are saying what they are saying. After you have found out a little about their answers, give your own answer to the same question your child or teen just responded to.
Your children will be more influenced by your views of things if your views are not forced upon them. Hopefully, you already have a strong loving relationship with each of your children. People are influenced by people they like, and this is particularly true with children and teens.
I hope you will get these grids and use them to help your kids grow to be very responsible adults.
